Workers Chapel 
2019

In 2019, during the ChongMing Artist Residency, a two-week period was dedicated to the revitalization of an abandoned factory site in Chongming. Young artists from the UK, Korea, and China each utilized their respective works to breathe new life into the space. 

I conceptualized the 'Workers Chapel,' a transformation that involved removing and rearranging the floor tiles of a section of the factory that resembled a restroom or bathroom area. Through this process, the space was reimagined into a sacred chapel. Additionally, I curated an exhibition featuring traces of workers found within the factory, creating a shrine dedicated to the workers. The 'Workers Chapel' serves as both a physical and symbolic tribute to the laborers who once inhabited the factory, offering a space for reflection and homage within the industrial landscape.


2019년, 상해 총밍에서의 ArtShake 레지던시에서 영국, 한국, 중국의 젊은 작가들은 각자의 작품으로 폐공장 부지를 새롭게 탄생시켰다. 본인의 프로젝트는 '워커스 채플'이라는 컨셉 기획으로부터 시작 되었다. 공장의 한 공간으로, 화장실 또는 욕실 공간처럼 보였던 곳의 바닥 타일을 제거하고 재배치하여 마치 성스러운 채플과 같은 공간으로 변모하였다. 공장 내에서 발견된 일꾼들의 흔적은 전시되어 노동자를 위한 신전으로 재탄생되었으며, 한때 이 공장에서 일하던 노동자들에게 헌정하는 물리적이고 상징적인 공간과 장소로서의 역할을 제시하였다
